Well, well, well, let’s talk about this candle divination thing. I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the market. They say it’s a way to see what the future holds, using just a plain ol’ candle. Sounds kinda interestin’, don’t it?
Now, I ain’t no expert on this, but I’ve lit a candle or two in my time. You know, for light and such. But they say there’s more to it than that. If that candle flame is jumpin’ around like a cat on a hot tin roof, that’s a sign, they say. They say that the flame of your candle is talking to you and showing the future. And the ancestors are there too, flicking the flame. It’s not just for lighting the dark anymore!
I reckon it’s like readin’ tea leaves, but with fire. You gotta watch that flame close. If it’s burnin’ steady and bright, that’s a good sign. Like things are gonna go your way. My neighbor, Betsy, she tried it once. Said her candle divination told her she’d find a twenty dollar bill. And what do you know? She found one stuck in an old book the next day!
But if that flame is dancin’ all over the place, or if it’s sputterin’ and lookin’ weak, well, that ain’t so good. Might mean trouble’s brewin’. Like when my rooster, Hank, started crowin’ at midnight. I knew somethin’ was up. Next day, the fox got into the henhouse. Shoulda known! Maybe a candle divination woulda warned me!
Some folks use different colored candles, too. I heard that a white candle is for, like, purity and peace. A red one is for love and passion. I always liked the red ones. They’re so pretty. Reminds me of the time I met my husband at the town dance. Now that was a long time ago.
And get this, they even have a way of readin’ the wax drippin’ down the side of the candle. If it’s all smooth and even, that’s supposed to be lucky. But if it’s all lumpy and bumpy, well, you might wanna watch out. They say that the wax can tell you how the magic in life is working.
Here’s what I learned ’bout what that there candle flame might be tellin’ ya:
- Big ol’ flame: Means things are movin’ fast. Might be good, might be bad. Just gotta hold on tight!
- Little bitty flame: Means things are slow goin’. Could be a sign to be patient. Or maybe you’re just runnin’ out of candle!
- Flame jumpin’ around: That means the ancestors are talkin’ to ya. Or there’s a lot of stuff happenin’. Pay attention.
- Steady flame: That’s a good one. Means things are calm and peaceful. Just like a quiet evenin’ on the porch.
- Smoky flame: Hmm, that ain’t usually good. Might mean there’s some negativity around. Or maybe your candle’s just cheap!
Now, I don’t know if I believe all this candle divination stuff. But it’s kinda fun to think about, ain’t it? Like there’s a little bit of magic in the everyday things. And who knows, maybe that candle flame really is tryin’ to tell us somethin’. Maybe the ancestors really are flicking the flame. That would be something, wouldn’t it?
I remember one time, I was feelin’ down on my luck. Lost my favorite apron, the one with the chickens on it. I lit a candle, just to have some light while I was sewin’. And that flame, it started dancin’ somethin’ fierce. I didn’t think nothin’ of it at the time. But the next day, I found my apron! It had fallen behind the dresser. Maybe that candle divination was tryin’ to tell me somethin’ after all.
And there is a thing called 5 candle rule. It’s about some traders. They look at the candle for five days. They try to guess if the price will go up or down. I don’t know anything about trading, just know how to trade my eggs for some sugar.
They also say that if you are doing candle divination, you should make sure that there is no wind. You know, keep the windows closed. You don’t want the wind to mess up the flame. You want to know what the ancestors are trying to say. Or whatever it is that you are praying for.
I guess there’s a lot of ways to do this candle divination thing. Some folks use special oils on their candles. Others say prayers or chants while they’re lightin’ ’em. Me, I just like to watch the flame. It’s kinda mesmerizin’, like watchin’ a campfire. But I will try to close the window next time, and see if my ancestors have anything to say to me.
So, if you’re ever feelin’ curious, or if you just want to try somethin’ new, maybe give candle divination a try. Just remember to be careful with that flame. And who knows, maybe you’ll learn somethin’ about yourself, or about what the future holds. Or maybe you’ll just have a nice, peaceful moment watchin’ a candle burn. And that’s alright, too.
