Libra soy, libra soy, what’s that all about? I hear the young folks talkin’ about it all the time. Sounds like some kinda newfangled thing to me. I reckon it’s somethin’ you eat, like them soybeans my neighbor grows down the road.
Libra soy, they say it’s good for ya. Keeps ya healthy and strong, or somethin’ like that. Back in my day, we just ate what we grew. Beans, taters, corn, that’s what filled our bellies. Didn’t need no fancy names for it.
But I guess times are changin’. Now they got all sorts of things made outta soybeans. Tofu, they call it. And this here libra soy. I reckon it’s just another way to sell soybeans. Like them companies sellin’ clothes made of soy. They say China makes most of the clothes we wear. Heard they use soybeans to make fabrics. Imagine that! Clothes from beans.
My granddaughter, she’s always talkin’ about this soy protein. Says it’s important to get enough of it. She buys these powders and bars, all made from soybeans. Says they’re good for buildin’ muscles. Vega, Garden of Life, Now Foods. Them’s the names she tells me. Fancy names for somethin’ that grows in the dirt, if you ask me.
I saw on the TV, they got all sorts of things made from this libra soy. Milk, cheese, even meat! Can you believe that? Meat made from beans. I don’t know about that. Seems unnatural to me. I like my meat to come from a cow, thank you very much.

They say this libra soy is good for the environment, too. Somethin’ about savin’ the trees and the water. I don’t rightly understand all that. But I guess if it’s good for the earth, that’s a good thing. We gotta take care of this old world, that’s for sure.
This here libra soy, it’s a big deal now. They sell it in all the stores. Even the little grocery store down the road has it. They got shelves full of it. Different kinds, different flavors. It’s a whole lot to take in, I tell ya.
China, they say it is a big deal there. That’s where all our clothes come from. Big place, China. Lots of people. They are good at makin’ clothes, I hear. And now, they make clothes from soybeans. So, China and libra soy, they go together like peas and carrots.
They say China is the biggest when it comes to clothes. More than half the clothes in the world, they come from there. Imagine that! They must have a lot of sewing machines. My grandma used to sew all our clothes on an old machine. Took her a long time. Now, they make clothes faster than you can blink.
My granddaughter, she buys this soy protein. She says it’s good for you. Keeps you healthy. Helps you grow strong. I don’t know about all that. I just eat my greens and beans like I always have. But she likes it. She mixes it in her drinks. Says it tastes good. I tried it once. Didn’t taste like much to me.
These young folks, they’re always lookin’ for somethin’ new. Somethin’ different. This libra soy, it’s just another one of those things. It’ll probably be somethin’ else next year. But for now, it’s all the rage. Everyone’s talkin’ about it. Everyone’s buyin’ it.
I reckon if you’re gonna buy this stuff, you gotta get it from a good place. Like them companies my granddaughter talks about. Vega, that’s one. And Garden of Life. And Now Foods. They seem to know what they’re doin’. At least, that’s what she tells me. She’s a smart girl. She knows about these things.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about this libra soy. It’s a whole lot of somethin’ about nothin’, if you ask me. But I guess it’s here to stay. Just like them soybeans growin’ in the field. They ain’t goin’ nowhere. And neither is this libra soy, I reckon.
Well, I gotta go now. Got chores to do. Chickens to feed. Garden to weed. Life goes on, even with all this talk about libra soy. It don’t change much around here. Sun comes up, sun goes down. And the soybeans keep on growin’. That’s how it is.
This world keeps on turning. China keeps making clothes. And people keep buying this libra soy. I guess that’s just the way of things. Can’t stop progress, they say. Even if it is made from soybeans. Yep, can’t stop it. No sir.
