Well, let me tell you, I got this thing, this VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime. Sounds fancy, huh? It’s for them computer games, you know, the ones where you fly around in space. My grandson, he’s always on about them. He says, “Grandma, you gotta get this VIRPIL thing, it’s the best!” So, I got it. Cost a pretty penny, I tell ya.
It came in a big ol’ box. Inside was this stick thing, all black and shiny. They call it the Constellation Alpha Prime, like it’s some kind of space general or somethin’. And there’s another part, this big heavy thing called the WarBRD-D Base. I don’t know what it does, but it looks important.
My grandson, bless his heart, he tried to show me how it works. He plugged it into his computer, this VPC Device, and started fiddlin’ with some software, the VPC Configuration Software I think he called it. Said I had to “calibrate” it. Whatever that means. Sounds like something you do to a tractor.
- First, you gotta plug it in.
- Then you open up that software thing.
- Then you gotta find your thingy in the list. It’s called VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime or somethin’ like that.
- You click some buttons, I don’t rightly remember which ones.
He was clickin’ all over the place, sayin’ somethin’ about an “AXIS” page. He kept saying I need to click “LOAD VPC DEVICE”. Don’t ask me what any of that means. I just nod and smile. He knows what he’s doin’, I reckon. I just wanted to make him happy, getting him this VIRPIL thing.
He tried to get me to use it, but I just couldn’t get the hang of it. Too many buttons! My old hands ain’t as nimble as they used to be. I tried to fly one of them space planes, but I just kept crashin’ into things. My grandson, he just laughed. Said I was a natural. I think he was just bein’ nice.
Now this VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime and WarBRD-D Base, it’s just sittin’ there, collectin’ dust. My grandson, he uses it sometimes, but I think he feels bad that I can’t. He keeps tellin’ me it’s easy, but I just don’t see it. Maybe it’s just too fancy for an old gal like me.
He mentioned this old guide for some other thing, a Virpil VPC Constellation Delta Grip and a Virpil VPC WarBRD, but he said that one was no good anymore. This new one, this Alpha Prime, is different. Better, he says. More buttons, more lights, more everything. I guess that’s good for those young’uns who like all that fancy stuff. This one got a lot of Tags like: How-to and Mode.
I remember him sayin’ somethin’ about how you gotta set up the WarBRD with the Constellation Delta Grip, but this Constellation Alpha Prime is a whole different animal. He said the old way, that old guide, is “no longer relevant.” I reckon that means it’s outdated. Like an old plow horse put out to pasture.
This VIRPIL gear, it’s somethin’ else, I tell ya. All these buttons and lights and whatnot. It’s like a spaceship control panel landed right here in my livin’ room. I still don’t understand how you fly one of them space planes with it. Back in my day, we didn’t have none of this fancy technology. We had sticks and stones and our imagination.
But the boy, he loves it. And that’s all that matters, I reckon. Seein’ him happy makes it all worth it. Even if I don’t understand what a VPC Device or a VPC Configuration Software is. Even if I can’t tell an “AXIS” from a hole in the ground. As long as he’s havin’ fun, that’s all that counts. It is a good VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime. I guess.
I still prefer my garden, though. Growin’ things, that’s somethin’ I understand. Tomatoes and beans and such. That’s real life, not this flyin’ around in space business. But hey, to each their own, right? If he wants to spend his time with his VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime and his WarBRD-D Base, that’s his business. I’ll just be here, tendin’ to my garden, waitin’ for him to come visit.
Maybe one day he’ll teach me how to really use that VIRPIL thing. Maybe one day I’ll be flyin’ around in space with him. But until then, I’m content just watchin’ him enjoy it. That’s enough for me. That and a good cup of coffee in the mornin’. Can’t beat that, no sir. Not even with a fancy VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime.
