So I wanted to get my Leo Bodnar SLI Pro working in Le Mans Ultimate, which is not a game that easily lets you mess with this stuff. It wasn’t getting picked up by the Sim Pro Manager, and I was like, “Oh, come on!” I really wanted those shift lights and extra buttons for the game.
First, I did some digging. Turns out, the SLI Pro is this cool little device that’s basically a joystick interface combined with a shift light indicator. It’s got places for up to 16 buttons, 8 rotary encoders, and even some extra LEDs. It’s meant for sim racing, and it’s usually plug-and-play, but not this time.
I found out that the SLI Pro uses a standard USB Mini-B connector. That was good to know. But, I tried all sorts of things, and it just wasn’t showing up in the game. I went through all the settings in Le Mans Ultimate, thinking maybe there was a hidden option somewhere. Nothing. I even tried messing with some config files, but that didn’t work either. I was getting pretty frustrated, to be honest.
- I downloaded the SLI Pro user manual. It was pretty basic, but it confirmed I wasn’t missing anything obvious. It talked about how the device has connections for external buttons and switches, which gave me an idea.
- Then I remembered reading somewhere that someone got it working by using external buttons and rotaries to control everything. I was a bit hesitant at first, but I was getting desperate.
- So I went for it. I hooked up some external buttons and one of those special rotary switches that Leo Bodnar makes. It was a bit of a hassle, but I followed the manual and some online guides I found in a forum.
And guess what? It worked! Suddenly, my SLI Pro was alive in Le Mans Ultimate. The shift lights were working, and I could use all the extra buttons and the rotary switch to control different things in the game. It was like a whole new experience. It felt really good to finally figure it out after all that trouble.
It was a bit of a pain to get there, but now I can enjoy Le Mans Ultimate with my SLI Pro working perfectly. So yeah, if you’re having trouble with your SLI Pro in a game, don’t give up. It might take some extra steps, but you can probably get it working with some external controls.
