Okay, here’s my experience with using Gemini AI to create a mind map, written in a casual, personal blog style:
So, I was messing around with Gemini AI, trying to see what it could do, and I had this idea: Could it help me make a mind map? I’d been struggling to organize my thoughts for a new project, and I figured, why not give it a shot?
I started by just feeding Gemini a basic prompt. Something like, “Create a mind map about [my project topic].” I kept it pretty vague at first, just to see what would happen. Honestly, I didn’t have super high expectations.
The first result? It was…okay. Gemini gave me a text-based outline, which was kind of like a mind map, but not really visual, you know? It had a central topic and some branching ideas, but it wasn’t exactly what I was picturing.

So, I tried again. This time, I got more specific. I added some keywords, listed out some of the main areas I wanted to explore, and even specified the kind of structure I was looking for. It was like, “Create a mind map about [my project topic], focusing on [area 1], [area 2], and [area 3]. Make sure it branches out logically.”
This time, the result was much better! Gemini generated a more detailed outline, with a clearer hierarchy of ideas. It still wasn’t a picture of a mind map, but it was definitely something I could work with.
I will show you how i did.
- Type the prompt.
- Add some keywords.
- Review the result and get more.
I copied the text output from Gemini and pasted it into a mind mapping tool I use * are a bunch of free ones online, so you don’t need anything fancy.
From there, it was just a matter of formatting things. The mind mapping software automatically created the visual structure, and I just had to tweak it a bit to make it look the way I wanted. I added some colors, moved some branches around, and added a few more details that Gemini hadn’t included.

It worked! I now have mindmap by Gemini AI.
