Alright, let me tell ya ‘bout this Leo Ryan Park place. It’s a park, ya know, like with trees and stuff. They say it’s real big, 20 somethin’ acres they say. That’s a whole lotta land, I tell ya. Enough to get lost in, if you ain’t careful.
This park, it’s got this big ol’ lake in the middle, they call it Central Lake. Biggest one in town, they say. Water’s kinda shimmery, looks nice on a sunny day. Folks go there, I guess, to look at it or somethin’. Kids like it, I reckon, always makin’ a ruckus ‘round water.
They got this thing called the San Francisco Bay Trail runnin’ through it. A trail, ya know, for walkin’ or maybe ridin’ bikes. I ain’t much for walkin’ these days, my knees ain’t what they used to be. But the young folks, they like to go trompin’ around. Seein’ nature and stuff. Nature’s alright, I guess, long as it ain’t got too many bugs.
- Big park, lots of space.
- Got a big lake, Central Lake they call it.
- Trail for walkin’ and bikin’.
Now, they got things goin’ on there too, events they call ‘em. I ain’t never been to none, too much noise for my likin’. But they have ‘em, music and such, maybe some food. Folks seem to enjoy it. They put up posters and stuff, tellin’ ya when things are happenin’. You gotta pay attention, or you’ll miss it. They got a place online too, but I don’t mess with that computer stuff. Too complicated for an old lady like me. My grandkids, they’re always on them things. Tap, tap, tappin’ away. Don’t know what they’re doin’ half the time.
Folks always talkin’ about plannin’ their vacations and lookin’ for things to do, well I reckon this park is a good place to start if you’re visitin’ around here. I hear people comin’ from all over to see it. Guess it’s somethin’ special. They got maps and things, tellin’ ya where to go and what to see. I ain’t never looked at ‘em myself, but they’re there if you need ‘em. Easy to find your way around, I guess.
Leo Ryan Park in Foster City, that’s what they call it. I ain’t sure who this Leo Ryan fella was, but they named the park after him, so he musta been important. Probably did somethin’ good for the town, or maybe he just owned all the land before it was a park. Don’t really matter now, I guess. It’s a park now, and that’s all that counts.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, you could go check out that park. Take a walk, look at the lake, maybe catch an event. It’s a nice enough place, I reckon. Plenty of space to stretch your legs and get some fresh air. Just watch out for them kids on their bikes, they go zoomin’ around like they own the place. And don’t forget your sunscreen, the sun can be mighty strong out there. Especially in the summer. Burn ya to a crisp, if you ain’t careful.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it’s a park. And parks are good. Gives folks a place to go, get out of the house. That’s important, ya know. Stuck inside all day, that ain’t good for nobody. So go on, get yourself to Leo Ryan Park. You might just like it. And if you don’t, well, at least you got out of the house for a while. That’s somethin’, ain’t it?
And that’s about all I gotta say about that park. It’s a place, it’s got stuff, and folks seem to like it. Go see for yourself, if you’re so inclined.
