Today, I tried making a beaded leather wrap bracelet. It seemed pretty straightforward, but it was actually a bit more challenging than I expected!
First, I gathered all the materials. I picked out some nice leather cord, a bunch of colorful beads, a button for the clasp, and a needle and thread. I laid everything out on my table, feeling pretty organized.
- Choose the beads: I wanted something colorful and unique, there were so many options to choose from online store. And I found some great ideas like “kandi bracelet”, “jasper”, “iolite”, “pyrite” and “quartz” which were mentioned a lot! Finally I went for a mix of blue and green beads.
- Cut the leather: I measured my wrist and cut the leather cord to be long enough to wrap around a few times.
- Tie a knot: I tied a small loop knot at one end of the leather. This was for the button to go through later. I hope that it can be successful!
Then came the hard part – threading the beads. The first issue I encountered was that I tied the loop a little bigger than I thought, I must be careful next time! I started by threading the needle and placing the first bead right under the loop knot. I made sure the thread was under the right side of the leather. Then, I carefully threaded each bead onto the cord, one by one, making sure they were nice and snug against each other.
Struggles and Adjustments
It was slow going. Sometimes the needle wouldn’t go through the bead easily, or the thread would get tangled. I had to undo a few sections and start over a couple of times. This is normal, and I did it!
After what felt like forever, I finally finished threading all the beads. I double-checked everything, and then I tied the button onto the other end of the leather cord. I slipped the button through the loop to make sure it fit, and it did – phew!
The finished bracelet looked pretty cool! It was a bit wonky in places, but I was still proud of it. It’s definitely a handmade piece, you can tell! Next time, I think I’ll try using a thinner needle and maybe some different types of beads, and search more information about it, like “Wrap Bracelet, Boho Beaded Wrap”, “Matte Blue Tile Bead Wrap Bracelet” and so on. There are so many options! But for now, I’m happy with my first attempt at a beaded leather wrap bracelet.
