Okay, so, I gotta tell you about this little project I’ve been messing around with. It’s called “kalan astral star divination cloth”. Sounds fancy, huh? Well, it’s basically a piece of cloth used for, like, reading the stars and stuff. I’ve always been kind of into astrology and all that mystical jazz, so I thought, why not try to make my own divination cloth?
First thing I did was to find a good piece of fabric. I went looking around and found that, normally, these things are about 21×21 inches. So I went to a local fabric store and searched for something that felt right. I ended up getting a dark blue, kind of velvety material. Felt nice and looked kinda mysterious, you know? It was sold out, surprisingly.
Then, I did some research online to see what kind of designs people usually put on these cloths. There were a lot of options, but I found out that some are even sold for around 35 bucks! Since I wanted to draw something with moon phases and stars, I found a simple but cool pattern with stars around the edges and a big moon phase thing in the center. I sketched it out on paper first, just to get a feel for it. I also found that there are 26×26 inches cloths, selling for 9.99 to 29 bucks, but I stuck to my original plan.
Next, I needed to transfer the design onto the fabric. I grabbed some tailor’s chalk, it is only 5.99, and lightly drew the pattern onto the cloth. It was a bit tricky to get the lines straight and the circles round, but I took my time and it turned out okay. For the stars, I used a simple five-pointed star shape. Nothing too complicated.
After the chalk outline was done, I went over it with some white fabric paint. I got a small bottle of it, along with a fine-tipped brush. This part took a while because I had to be careful not to smudge the paint. I painted all the stars first, then the moon phases in the center. It was kinda relaxing, actually, just focusing on the painting.
Once the paint was dry, I wanted to add some extra details. I had some silver glitter glue lying around, so I decided to use that to highlight some parts of the design. I put a little bit of glitter on the edges of the stars and around the moon phases. It gave the whole thing a nice, sparkly look, which I liked.
Finally, I let the whole thing dry overnight, just to make sure everything was set. The next day, I had my very own, handmade Kalan Astral Star Divination Cloth! It might not be perfect, but I was pretty proud of it.
I even tried using it a couple of times, just for fun. I laid it out on my table, lit some candles, and tried to do a little star reading. I’m no expert, but it was a cool experience. It felt special to use something I had made myself.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with making a divination cloth. It was a fun and interesting project, and I learned a lot along the way. Who knows, maybe I’ll make another one someday, but with a different design. We’ll see!
