Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here… uh… what do you call it? Scorpio necklace, yeah, that’s it. My grandkid, she’s all into this star stuff, you know? Constel… constelations, or somethin’. Says it’s all ’bout when you’re borned and what kinda critter you are. Hers is a scorpion, apparently. Scary lookin’ thing if you ask me, but she likes it.
So, she’s been yappin’ about gettin’ one of these Scorpio necklaces. Says it’s gotta have that scorpion thingy on it, the little squiggly tail and all. And not just any old thing, mind you. It’s gotta be special, with some kinda shiny rock on it. Rocks, I tell ya! Kids these days and their rocks.
- First off, they got these gold chain ones, real fancy-like. My grandkid, she points to a picture in some magazine, says, “Look, Grandma, it’s got the scorpion mark!” Plain as day, it was, a little gold scorpion hangin’ on a chain. Pretty enough, I guess, but what do I know? I wear my grandma’s old locket, ain’t never needed no scorpion.
- Then there’s talk about the rocks themselves. Seems like there’s special rocks for each sign. For the scorpion folks, it’s this pink tour-ma-leen, or somethin’ like that, and another one called cit-rine. Sounded like fancy names for rocks to me. She says the pink one is pretty and the yellow one is supposed to make you calm. Lord knows she needs somethin’ to calm her down, always jumpin’ around like a flea in a skillet.
- And the choices, oh the choices! You got bracelets and bangles too, with little scorpion charms danglin’ all over. But she’s set on a necklace, says it’s gotta be close to her heart. Heart, I tell ya! Youngsters and their hearts.
Now, this magazine, it also had pictures of other scorpion stuff. Jewelry, they called it. Earrings with little scorpions, rings with scorpion tails curlin’ around your finger. Seemed a bit much to me, but she was all eyes, pointin’ and gaspin’. “Look Grandma, that one has the little stars!” Turns out, some of these necklaces got the stars all lined up like the scorpion picture in the sky. Constel… constellation, she called it.
And talk about fancy, these Scorpios, they like things shiny and… what’s the word? Mini… mini-mal… somethin’. Means not too much junk on it, I guess. But they also like it expensive. Diamonds and such. Diamonds! I told her, “Girl, you ain’t gettin’ no diamonds, you hear? We ain’t made of money!” She just rolled her eyes, typical teenager.
They also mentioned this blue rock, called topaz. Said it’s supposed to make Scorpios less… fiery. Fiery? That’s my grandkid alright, always got a temper like a hornet. Maybe she needs that blue rock after all. It’s supposed to make them kinder, more understanding. Maybe it’ll stop her from yellin’ at me when I forget to record her favorite TV show.
Anyways, this magazine, it went on and on. Talked about clothes too, leather jackets and ripped-up jeans. Said Scorpios like to look tough but also fancy. Boots and high heels, all kinds of stuff. But it all came back to that Scorpio necklace. That’s the main thing, she says. Gotta have that scorpion close to her heart. So, I guess we’ll be lookin’ for a Scorpio necklace. Hopefully, it won’t cost me an arm and a leg. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll calm her down a bit. A grandma can hope, right? Lord knows I need some peace and quiet around here.
So, if you see me wanderin’ around the shops, lookin’ all confused, don’t you laugh. I’m just tryin’ to find a dang Scorpio necklace for my grandkid. A gold one, with a scorpion, and maybe a little pink or yellow rock. And hopefully, one that doesn’t break the bank. Wish me luck, folks, ’cause I’m gonna need it. This star stuff is more complicated than plantin’ corn, I tell ya.
Scorpio necklace, Scorpio birthstone, Scorpio jewelry… I’m gonna be sayin’ those words in my sleep. But hey, if it makes my grandkid happy, then I guess it’s worth it. Just hope that scorpion don’t bite.
