Okay, so today I want to talk about this cool thing I did with a constellation dogwood tree. I saw these trees online and thought, “Man, I gotta have one of those in my yard.” So, I did some digging around to see what these trees are all about.
First off, I found out that deer generally leave these trees alone, which is great because those critters can be a real pain, you know? They munch on almost anything, but apparently, dogwoods aren’t their favorite snack. That’s a big win in my book.
Then I started looking for where to buy one of these beauties. I stumbled upon a nursery that promised top-notch quality. They talked about how they’ve been in the business for like, 174 years or something. Sounds legit, right? They had all sorts of plants, but I was focused on the dogwood. They even had a “no-risk” guarantee, which made me feel a bit better about potentially dropping some cash on a tree.
I also checked out another place that claimed to have wholesale prices. Who doesn’t love a good deal? They had a huge selection of plants too, and everything could be shipped right to my door. It was tempting, but I was still leaning towards the first place with that long history and guarantee.
So, I decided to go for it and ordered a constellation dogwood from the first nursery. The waiting was the hardest part! But finally, the tree arrived, and it looked pretty good. I mean, for a tree that just traveled across who-knows-where, it was in decent shape.
Next up, planting. I found a good spot in my yard that gets a good mix of sun and shade. Dug a hole, which was a workout, let me tell you. Got the tree settled in, filled it back up with dirt, and gave it a good watering.
Now, it’s just a waiting game. I’m keeping an eye on it, making sure it gets enough water, and hoping it settles in nicely. Fingers crossed it thrives and gives me those awesome blooms I’ve been dreaming of.
- Ordered the tree.
- Waited for it to arrive.
- Planted it in the yard.
- Watering it regularly.
- Hoping it grows big and strong!
It’s still early days, but I’m feeling pretty good about this whole dogwood adventure. It wasn’t just a random buy, I did my research and put in the effort. I will keep you all posted on how my dogwood baby is growing!
What I have learned today!
It was a fun day. I have learned a lot about dogwood trees, how to plant them, and where to buy them. It was interesting to learn about the different types of dogwoods, and their care tips.
I also learned that having a good nursery to purchase from can really make a big difference in the success of the plant. This is a good lesson to remember for the future. Can’t wait to see how it turns out in a few years! Wish me luck.
