Okay, so I’ve been wanting to make one of these constellation posters for a while, you know, the ones that show the stars on a specific date and location? I finally got around to doing it, and it was… an experience. Let me tell you about it.
Getting Started (and hitting a wall)
First, I looked up some tutorials online. Most of them used fancy design software, which, let’s be honest, I don’t have the skills (or the money) for. I tried to find some free alternatives, but they were either super complicated or just didn’t give me the look I wanted.
I spent a good couple of hours just messing around, getting nowhere. Seriously, I was about to give up. The frustration was REAL.
Finding a Simpler Way
Then, I stumbled upon this website. It lets you input a date and location, and it generates a star map for you! It wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, but it was a good starting point.

- I entered my chosen date (my anniversary, aww) and location.
- The website spat out a basic star map.
- I downloaded the image. It was pretty plain, just black and white.
Making it My Own about the detail
This is where the fun (and a little more frustration) began. I wanted to customize it, make it look a bit more, you know, aesthetic.
I opened the image which I had downloaded in a simple photo editing app on my computer. I played around with the colors, added a dark blue background, and made the stars a little brighter. Then add text title in the poster.
The fonts were the next hurdle. Finding one that looked “space-y” but not cheesy was surprisingly hard. I must have tried at least twenty different ones before settling on something that looked decent.
Finally, I added the date and location text at the bottom. I experimented with different layouts and sizes until it looked balanced.
The Final Result (Phew!)
After all that messing around, I finally had something I was happy with! It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and I made it myself. I printed it out and even found a cheap frame for it. Now It’s hanging on my wall, and every time I look at it, I remember the whole chaotic process of making it. And honestly, that’s part of what makes it special.

So, yeah, that’s my constellation poster adventure. A bit messy, a bit frustrating, but totally worth it in the end!
