Alright, let’s talk about these…what do you call ’em? Horry-scopes? Yeah, horoscopes, by this Nancy Black woman. I ain’t no scholar, but I heard folks talkin’, so I figured I’d take a look. Don’t know much about stars and planets, but I know what I see and what I hear, ya know?
So, this Nancy, she’s like her mama, Linda Black, I guess. Carrying on the family business, like farmin’, but with stars instead of corn. She figures out these horoscopes using numbers and…ephemeris… somethin’ or other from NASA. Sounds fancy, but I bet it ain’t nothin’ more than lookin’ at the sky real close, like we do before a storm.
Now, she talks about all them Zodiac signs. You got your Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, and the rest of the bunch. I don’t rightly know which one I am, never paid much mind to it. But Nancy, she says each sign gets a different readin’ every day. Kinda like the weather, changes all the time.

- Then there’s Saturn, somethin’ serious I reckon.
- Jupiter and Mars, they’re about work and money, makes sense.

It’s like she’s got a whole farm up there in the sky, and each planet is a different crop. She’s gotta keep an eye on all of ’em to know what’s gonna happen.
Nancy gives you horoscopes for today, and even two weeks ahead or back! That’s a lot of star-gazin’, let me tell ya. She says she “interprets aspects and transits”. Sounds like she’s watchin’ the animals in the barn, seein’ which way they’re movin’, if they’re restless or calm. Only she’s doin’ it with planets.
And get this, she talks about your “rising sign”. Says it shows which part of your life is gonna be lit up. Like when the sun shines on a certain field, that’s where the crops are gonna grow best. So, if your love and money house is lit up, maybe you’ll find a good man with deep pockets… If it’s communications, maybe you’ll be gossiping with the neighbour’s all day.
This Nancy, she puts out these horoscopes every day, free for everyone. That’s mighty generous of her. Folks are always lookin’ for a little guidance, a little somethin’ to hold onto. Whether it’s the stars or the feel of the wind, we all try to figure out what’s comin’ our way. I guess Nancy’s just usin’ a different kinda almanac.
She’s even got horoscopes for today’s birthday, whoever’s born on that day gets a special readin’ I guess. Like a special blessing, but from the stars instead of the preacher. It’s all kinda strange to me, but folks seem to like it. They read their horoscopes, and maybe it gives them a little hope, or maybe it just makes them feel like they ain’t alone in this big ol’ world.
So, what do I think about Nancy Black’s horoscopes? Well, I don’t reckon they’ll hurt ya none. If it makes you feel better to read ’em, then go ahead. It’s like anything else, ya take what ya need and leave the rest. Me, I’ll stick to watchin’ the clouds and feelin’ the dirt between my fingers. But that don’t mean Nancy’s wrong, she’s just got a different way of lookin’ at things.
