Alright, so you wanna know about this Leo T. Cronin Fish Viewing Area, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it’s a place where them fish like to… you know… do their thing. It’s out in West Marin, by some creek… Lagunitas, I think they call it. Fancy name, eh?
They say the best time to go see these fish is in December and January. That’s when they’re all busy makin’ more little fishies. Spawning, they call it. Sounds kinda fancy for just floppin’ around in the water, if you ask me. But what do I know? I’m just an old woman.
Now, this place, it ain’t no fancy-schmancy city park. It’s just a spot along the creek where you can watch the fish. They say the water’s kinda shallow there, and the fish like it. They swim around, jump outta the water sometimes, and just generally carry on. It’s kinda like watchin’ a bunch of chickens peckin’ around, but wetter.
What kind of fish you ask? Well, I heard they got them Chinook Salmon. Big ol’ things, some of ‘em. They swim all the way up from the ocean, they say. Imagine that! All that swimmin’ just to… well, you know… do their thing in a little creek. Makes you wonder, don’t it?
- They say them fish, they go to all sorts of places to lay their eggs. Big rivers, little creeks… even that Bogus Creek, whatever that is. And Shasta River, Scott River, Indian Creek… lots of places, way too many for me to remember.
- And this here Lagunitas Creek, it’s one of the busy ones. Seems like them fish like it here. Maybe the water’s just right, or maybe they just like the view. Who knows what goes on in a fish’s mind?
- There’s even a little waterfall there, they say. And sometimes, you can see them fish jumpin’ up it! Now that’s somethin’ to see, ain’t it? Fish flyin’ through the air… well, kinda.
This Leo T. Cronin fella… he must’ve liked watchin’ fish, I guess. Otherwise, why would they name the place after him? Maybe he was just a regular fella who liked to sit by the creek and watch the world go by. Can’t blame him for that. It’s peaceful out there, quiet… just the sound of the water and the birds and maybe a frog or two. A good place to get away from all the hustle and bustle, if you know what I mean.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, and you like watchin’ fish, you might wanna go check it out. Just remember, December and January, that’s the time to go. Bundle up warm, though, ‘cause it can get chilly by the water. And don’t expect nothin’ fancy. It’s just a place to watch fish, plain and simple. But sometimes, the simple things are the best, ain’t they?
And if you don’t see any fish? Well, at least you got some fresh air and saw some trees and whatnot. Better than staring at them walls, that’s for sure. I tell ya, spending some time outside is good for the soul. Makes you appreciate the little things, like the sun on your face and the birds singing their songs, and the water flowing, just like life itself. It’s all connected, you see? The fish, the water, the trees, us… we’re all part of somethin’ bigger.
They also say this place is in Marin County, which is a big place, lots of acres, they got news and trails and such, but I don’t know much about that. I only care about them fish, and if you go there, you be careful, ok? The rocks can be slippery and don’t go too close to the water, you don’t wanna fall in.
And one more thing, you might see other people there, other folks watchin’ the fish. Just be polite, say hello, and don’t hog all the good spots. There’s enough room for everyone to see the fish. We’re all there for the same reason, after all. To watch them fish do their thing, and maybe, just maybe, learn a little somethin’ about life in the process.
