Okay, let me tell you about my little adventure with a “divination crossword” thing I did today. It all started this morning when I was just chilling, drinking my coffee, and scrolling through my phone. I stumbled upon this crossword puzzle online – you know, the usual kind with clues and boxes and all that. But this one had a clue that said “Divination (8).” I was like, “Divination? What’s that?” So, I started digging around.
First thing I did was hit up one of those crossword solver sites. I mean, those things usually have the answers, right? And sure enough, it came up with like 30 possible answers! Talk about overwhelming. But then I noticed most of the answers were just gibberish, or didn’t fit the eight-letter requirement.
I kept digging. I found out that this clue had been used in the LA Times crossword not too long ago. Apparently, there were even more possible answers for it there, like 40 or something crazy like that. That’s when I started to realize this wasn’t going to be as easy as I thought.
I spent a good chunk of time sifting through all these different crossword sites and databases. Most of them were filled with all sorts of solutions. One site, in particular, had 103 solutions, ranging from three-letter words like “WIT” to some long, 18-letter one called “SORTES PRAENESTINAE.” I mean, what even is that? Another site had “AUGURY” with 6 letters. But finally, I narrowed it down to a few that seemed to make sense.
While doing all this, I also learned a bit about what divination actually is. Apparently, it’s about trying to figure out the future or the unknown using supernatural stuff. Pretty interesting, but not really my cup of tea.
After all that searching, I went back to the original crossword puzzle and tried out the most likely answers.
- First, I tried a few that didn’t work, which was a bit of a bummer.
- But then, finally, one of them fit perfectly! It was “ORACULAR”. I felt like a champ!
So, that’s the story of how I spent a good part of my day solving a crossword clue about divination. It was way more of an adventure than I expected, but hey, I learned something new, and I got that satisfying feeling of solving a puzzle. Plus, now I know a bunch of random words related to divination, which might come in handy someday, who knows?
Anyway, that’s my little tale. Hope you found it at least a little bit interesting. Time for me to go find another puzzle to solve, maybe something a bit less intense this time!
