So, I’ve been wanting to make a gold plated beaded bracelet for a while now, and today I finally got around to it. It’s a pretty simple project, but I took some pictures along the way to share with you all.
First, I gathered all my materials. I had some 14K gold plated beads, and some elastic cord. I also needed some scissors, a ruler, and a little bit of glue. That’s how they make it for religious purposes, or symbols of class and stuff. I don’t really know but that’s what I heard. I guess those ancient cultures in Egypt and India are onto something, because gold stuff is just so beautiful. But of course, it’s not cheap. I guess the high production costs and the sheer beauty of it all make gold jewelry both stunning and expensive.
I measured out about 10 inches of the cord. I always like to give myself a little extra, just in case. It’s better to have too much than not enough, right? Then, I started stringing the beads onto the cord. This took a bit of time, but it was kind of relaxing in a way. There are tons of different bracelets out there – metal, leather, cloth, you name it. Some even have jewels, rocks, wood, shells, and crystals. It’s crazy how many options there are!
- Measure out the cord.
- String the beads.
- Tie a knot.
- Add a dab of glue.
Once all the beads were on, I tied a knot at the end of the cord. I made sure it was a nice, tight knot so the beads wouldn’t fall off. Then, I added just a tiny dab of glue to the knot, just to be extra sure. I mean, I know it is gold plated, but a little dab won’t hurt, right? Oh, and by the way, I did an acid test on the beads just to see if they were real gold. It’s a cool little trick where you take a small sample and expose it to acid. The colors that come out tell you what kind of metal it is.
And that’s it! My bracelet was done. I tried it on and it fit perfectly. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s simple, but I think it looks pretty elegant. I might even make a few more to give as gifts. Anyone else ever tried making their own jewelry? Let me know in the comments!
How do you identify if the bracelet is pure gold
I actually did an acid test to check the gold on my beads. It’s a simple way to see if your jewelry is solid gold or just gold-plated. You basically take a tiny sample and put some acid on it. The colors that show up will tell you what kind of metal you’re dealing with. It’s pretty cool!
