Been around a long time, this center. Folks say it started way back in 1898. Can ya believe that? Musta seen a lot of changes over the years. They’re always learnin’ new stuff, tryin’ to figure out how to beat this cancer thing. They do research, see? Poke and prod and study till they figure somethin’ out. Good on ’em, I say.
- They got this thing called radiology. Something to do with pictures, I reckon. Look inside ya and see what’s wrong.
- Then there’s radiation. That’s the stuff they use to zap the bad cells. Sounds scary, but they say it helps.
- And oncology and hematology. Big words, them. Means they deal with cancer and blood problems.
They been at it since 2003, really makin’ a difference. People come from all over to get help there. They got ways to tell if ya got cancer, and how bad it is. They call it diagnosing and staging. Then they figure out what kinda treatment ya need. They watch ya close, too, make sure it’s workin’.
They got all sorts of tests and scans. Machines that take pictures inside your body. Shows ’em where the cancer is, how big it is. Helps ’em decide what to do next. They got a place right there in the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center where ya can get these tests done. Don’t gotta go all over the place.
They’re doin’ good work over there, tryin’ to help folks with cancer. It’s a tough fight, but they’re in it with ya. Givin’ ya hope, givin’ ya a chance. And that’s somethin’ to be grateful for, ain’t it?
