Alright, let me tell ya ’bout this Leo Burnett Buildin’, ya know, the one in Chicago. It’s a big ol’ thing, real tall, like fifty stories or somethin’. They say it’s 635 feet high, but I ain’t never measured it myself.
It’s right there on Wacker Drive, by Dearborn Street, smack-dab in the middle of the Loop. You can’t miss it, seein’ as it’s stickin’ up taller’n most everything else around. They built it back in ’89, and folks were sayin’ it was one of the tallest buildin’s in the whole city back then. Imagine that! Twelfth tallest, they said.
- Big buildin’, real tall.
- Lots of offices inside, I reckon.
- Built a long time ago, back in ’89.
Now, I hear tell they got all sorts of businesses in there, offices and such. Folks goin’ in and out all day long, workin’ hard, I guess. Heard they even got some fancy company there called… well, somethin’ like Leo Burnett Company. Makes sense, I s’pose, seein’ as their name is on the buildin’ and all.
This Leo Burnett fella, he must’ve been somethin’ special. I heard he come up with all sorts of things, like them little Keebler Elves and that doughboy they got sellin’ them Pillsbury rolls. You know, the ones you poke in the belly and they giggle? Yeah, that’s him! And that cat, Morris, always eatin’ that 9-Lives food…he made that one up too! Smart fella, this Burnett. Made up some sayings, too, that people still remember after all these years. Guess that’s why they named a whole big buildin’ after him.
They say some lady named Kate somethin’ or other is the boss lady over there now. CEO, they call it. She’s supposed to be real good at gettin’ folks to work together and come up with new ideas. Good for her, I say. Someone’s gotta keep them office folks in line, right?
I also heard tell they got space for rent in that buildin’. Lots of it, too, somethin’ like 784,788 square feet. That’s a whole lotta room, if you ask me. Don’t know what they charge for it, but I bet it ain’t cheap. You gotta pay to be in a fancy place like that, I reckon. It’s right on the river too, see? Makes it look even prettier, they say.
And that fella Kevin Roche, he’s the one who drew up the plans for it, made it all pretty and standin’ tall. He must have been a smart fella too, knowin’ how to make a buildin’ that don’t fall down.
So, there you have it, the Leo Burnett Buildin’. Big, tall, and full of busy folks. It’s been there a long time, and I reckon it’ll be there a long time to come. It’s just another one of them city things, I guess. Makes the skyline look fancy, though.
Well, that’s all I got to say about it. Time for me to get back to my own business. You city folk with your fancy buildin’s and all… I tell ya!
