Hey there, fellow toy lovers! I’ve got some fresh news for you straight from the toy universe. You might have heard about the live-action movie "Saint Seiya: The Beginning" – yep, the one that got a lot of folks talking, and not always in a good way, because of its character designs. Well, guess what? The Saint Seiya Mythology EX series has just dropped a figure based on this movie’s version of Seiya – and I had the chance to check it out.
Now, let me tell you, this Seiya figure is about 17 cm tall and it sticks pretty closely to the movie’s look. But, to be honest, I’m not sold on the design. It’s like trying to make a pizza without cheese – sure, it’s still a pizza, but it’s just not right, you know?
Let’s dive into the nitty-gritty. The head sculpt is pretty neat; you can switch it up to show Seiya without his mask or helmet. It’s worth mentioning that the real deal, the actor playing Seiya in the movie, is Shinta Sugawara. If you’ve seen the posters, you’ll notice the figure’s face actually captures some of his features – not too shabby!
But here’s the kicker – the overall look is just meh. It’s like going to a restaurant and getting a dish that looks exactly like the picture, but tastes like… well, like nothing special. And there are no extra heads or anything to switch out, which is a bit of a bummer.
Now, the accessories – we’re talking about extra hands, a Saint Cloak box, and a pendant. The cool part is, the Saint Cloak box is actually big enough to hold the cloak, which is a nice touch.
All in all, the figure isn’t half-bad in terms of what you get. But the design of this live-action Seiya? It’s like that one friend who always shows up late to parties – it’s there, but you’re not exactly thrilled to see it.
So, for me, I’m gonna pass on this one. I’ll keep my cash for a figure that doesn’t make me feel like I’m eating pizza without the cheese. It’s being released for a pretty penny at 19,800 yen (including tax) and you can get your hands on it in May 2024.
