You know, this whole star sign thing, it’s a real head-scratcher. But my granddaughter, she’s real into it. She was telling me about this Virgo Sun Scorpio Moon thing. Sounds like some kind of fancy stew, but I guess it means something about people and how they act.
She was saying that if you got this Virgo Sun, you’re a real stickler for details. Like, you gotta have everything just so, like lining up your preserves in the cellar. Everything gotta be in its right place, or you get all twitchy. And this nervous energy, she says, they got that too. Like a chicken with its head cut off, running around all the time.
Then there’s this Scorpio Moon. Now that sounds a bit spooky, don’t it? She says it’s about feelings, deep feelings, like a well that goes way, way down. These folks, they feel things real strong. They are like the deep water, you know, still on the surface but with the hidden power and a lot going on underneath.
- This Scorpio Moon, they like other water signs, whatever that means. Cancer and Pisces, she said. Like them fish swimming around each other. And earth signs, like Virgo, Taurus, and Capricorn. I guess they all get along like peas in a pod. It like solid ground, you know? Reliable, like a good pair of boots.
- And these Virgo Moons, they’re like them little squirrels, always figuring things out in their heads. They get along with Cancer Moons, Gemini Moons, and other Scorpio Moons. Like they’re all sharing nuts or something.
She was going on about how this one fella, Gordon Ramsay, he’s a big shot chef on the TV. He’s got this Scorpio Sun and Virgo Moon too. Says he’s like a magician, but also a perfectionist. I guess that means he can whip up a fancy meal, but it better be perfect, or he’ll throw a fit. Probably yells at everyone like he does on that show. Goodness knows I wouldn’t want to be in his kitchen!
And my granddaughter, she’s always looking at these charts and things, talking about Sun and Moon and Rising signs. She tried to explain it, but you can understand sun moon rising, it is like some kind of secret code, that is the way I understand. Something about how you act on the outside, how you feel on the inside, and how you start your day. It’s all a bit much for me. I just like to know if it’s gonna rain or not so I can bring in the laundry. She say that this Virgo Sun Scorpio Moon person can be a real complicated one. Like a tangled ball of yarn, all wound up tight.
The sun thing is your style. Like, how you like to wear your clothes, or how you like to do your hair. Some people, they like them bright colors, like a rooster’s feathers. Sounds like something I used to hear down at the church.

Telling you what kind of person you are, so you can figure out how to grow. But I still think it’s a bit like reading tea leaves. You can see what you want to see, I reckon.
But she says it helps her understand people. Like, why that boy she likes is so quiet, or why her friend is always bossing everyone around. It is like a game to her. If that Virgo Sun Scorpio Moon is like her friend, that is a complex combination, that is for sure. She can make you crazy with all the things she wants done. You know, it’s like, sometimes you just want to tell them to shush their mouth and eat their supper.
I remember back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy charts and things. We just knew folks by how they acted. If they were kind, they were kind. If they were mean, they were mean. It was that simple. But I guess things are different now. The kids, they like to have everything figured out, labeled, and put in a box. Maybe this star sign thing is just another way of doing that. Whatever makes them happy, I guess. As long as they don’t forget to be kind, and to help their old grandma with the chores, that’s all that matters. That is more important than the sun and moon signs, you know.
But hey, who am I to say? I’m just an old lady who likes to watch the birds and tend to my garden. If this Virgo Sun Scorpio Moon helps them make sense of the world, then good for them. Just don’t come crying to me when your horoscope says you’re gonna have a bad day. I’ll just tell you to make your own sunshine, like I always do.
