I messed with that Eureka Mignon Libra grinder the other day. Let me tell you, it’s quite the gizmo.
First off, I got my hands on the thing. It’s not just any grinder; it’s a grind-by-weight type, which is pretty neat. So, I took it out of the box and started setting it up. I plugged it in and all that jazz, you know, the usual drill.
Now, this Libra has a touchscreen display, which is kind of cool. You tap a few buttons, tell it how much coffee you want by weight, not time, which is a game-changer. I messed around with the settings, got it just how I like it.
What I really wanted to try was to see if it stops when I take the filter holder away, and let me tell you, it works great!
- Then I started grinding.
- I put the portafilter on the rest, hit the button, and it started doing its thing.
- It’s got these 55mm steel burrs, which grind the coffee real fine, just the way it should be.
- And it’s fast, 1350 RPM, so you’re not standing there all day waiting for your coffee.
The best part is, it’s consistent. Every time, it grinds the exact amount I asked for. No more, no less. And it doesn’t matter if you bump it or knock it a little, it keeps going, thanks to some anti-vibration thing they put in there.
Grinding it out
I tried different settings, from fine to coarse. It’s got this knob that makes it easy to switch around. So, you can get it right for espresso or whatever else you’re brewing.
I also noticed it’s pretty quiet for a grinder. Not silent, but you know, you can still hear yourself think while it’s running. The whole thing is built well, feels solid. It’s Italian, so you kind of expect that, right?
And it’s hands-free. You don’t have to hold the portafilter while it’s grinding. The rest is adjustable, so it fits any size. Small thing, but it makes a difference when you’re using it every day.
So, after using it for a while, I’d say it’s a solid piece of equipment. It does what it says it does, and it does it well. If you’re serious about your coffee, this is the kind of grinder you want on your counter.
That’s my two cents on the Eureka Mignon Libra. It’s a bit of an investment, but for the quality and the features, it’s worth checking out.
