★Chinese Zodiac + Astrological Sign★ 2017 Fortune Face-Off： Rabbit-Dragon-Snake

　　As the year 2016 was drawing to a close, I had the good fortune of collaborating with the traditional fortune teller Mu Chan to co-author a series of horoscopes that combined Chinese zodiac signs with Western astrology. It was a unique opportunity to give everyone a sneak peek into the upcoming year’s fortune.

　　We decided to start our predictions from the beginning of Spring in 2017, which fell on January 28th, and to wrap them up by the next year’s Spring on February 15th, 2018, marking the end of the Year of the Rooster according to the lunar calendar.

Traditional Fortune Telling

　　The year 2017, the Year of the Rooster, was characterized by the celestial stems of Ding Fire, which is yin in nature. It’s like a gentle flame from a lamp, capable of warming the cold. The earthly branch is Gui Metal, also yin in nature. Gui represents the strength of the young yin, soft yet powerful. This year’s combination of celestial stems and earthly branches suggested a clash between yin fire and yin metal, signifying a year of "silence in the darkness."

Astrological Interpretation

　　From March to April 2017, Venus was in retrograde, suggesting a possibility of revisiting past events or relationships. There were lunar and solar eclipses in February and August, indicating significant changes or endings in certain areas or for certain individuals. Jupiter entered Scorpio in October, and Saturn moved into Capricorn in December. After a year of turmoil, it was a time to delve into inner strength and explore the self.
